If you want to learn how to look good without a shirt, this is going to be a good start for you. You are going to learn exactly what it is going to take. I will tell you right up front, if you have never done anything fitness related, it is going to be challenging. But it is going to be worth it.
I know how it feels to not look good without a shirt. And many of us all have different reasons why we think that we don’t look good without a shirt.
For me, I didn’t look good without a shirt because I was super scrawny. I had no muscle definition, poor posture, and no confidence.
Obviously, this is a bad combination. And it didn’t help that I was surrounded by people who seemed to be able to build muscle at will.
Long story short, I was able to come out of those tough times, and now I can confidently say that I look good without a shirt.
Focus on your calorie intake
If you are overweight or underweight, you are going to have to come to terms with the fact that looking good without a shirt is going to take time.
And when I say focus on your calorie intake, I mean that it is going to be different depending on your goals. Are you overweight and want to lose fat? You are going to have to eat at a caloric deficit DAILY.
Are you underweight and want to put on some muscle? You are going to have to eat at a caloric surplus DAILY.
Both of these statements are facts, and there is no way around it. Start by learning how to calculate your maintenance calories. From here, we can start to understand what a deficit and a surplus is.
A caloric deficit means you eat under maintenance everyday. A caloric surplus means that you eat over maintenance everyday.
I always recommend starting with the 500 rule. Meaning that if you are eating at a surplus, eat 500 calories per day over your maintenance. If you are eating in a deficit, eat 500 calories per day under your maintenance.
These concepts are very simple, and you can track every calorie that you eat with a free app like MyFitnessPal.
The key here is deciding whether you want to lose fat or build muscle. Here is the secret. In order to look good without a shirt, you need to have a solid muscle foundation, and low body fat percentage.
Obviously if you are overweight or underweight, you probably won’t be comfortable with your body without a shirt. That is ok, because eating right is 90% of what it is going to take to get there. Make sure that you prioritize it.
Workout to look good without a shirt
I mentioned this in the last section. 90% of getting into shape is eating right. The other 10% is working out. In fact, you can lose weight without working out, and you can gain weight without working out.
Unfortunately, that weight is going to present completely different if you don’t workout through the process.
Think of it like this. A sculptor needs a hammer and chisel to complete a sculpture. If he just has the chisel, he might be able to get the job done over a long period of time. But the hammer and chisel combined is like diet and exercise. They are the superpower that is going to teach you how to look good without a shirt.
But what workouts should you do? It is pretty simple. If you want to lose fat, do a combination of a weight training routine and HIIT workouts 3-4 days per week. Combine this with a caloric deficit, and you are going to lose fat at a rapid pace.
If you want to only build muscle, just ignore the HIIT workouts and strictly do weight training 3-4 days per week. As long as you are eating at a caloric surplus, your body is going to build muscle at a solid rate.
But how do you know what workout plan to choose? Be sure to download our app All Workouts: Personal Trainer (iOS | Google Play). We have FREE workout plans, and 10 built-in HIIT workouts to get anyone towards their goal.

Fix your posture
When you are trying to look good without a shirt, posture means a lot. If you are slouched over while you are standing up, you probably aren’t going to be very confident in the way that you look.
Start by trying to stand up straight with your shoulders back. Don’t hesitate to look in the mirror while you are trying this.
One thing that you need to know is that improving your posture is going to take time and effort. You are going to need to be conscious of your posture every time that you are sitting or standing.
Over time, your body will start to understand what you want from it, and it will adjust accordingly.
If you do struggle with posture, I highly recommend getting one of these posture correctors from Amazon. They are cheap, and you can wear them under your clothes while working or just being around the house.
They will really help you get a feel for what it is like to have proper posture. This won’t just help you look good without a shirt. It is going to help your muscles, ligaments, and bones structure. It is never too late or early to improve your posture.
There are also plenty of exercises that you can do to improve your posture. 3 that I can think of are barbell bent over rows, pullups, and seated cable rows. If you would like a description, illustration, and video of each, be sure to download our app.
Get a tan to look good without a shirt
Long gone are the days when you needed to spend hours in the damaging sun trying to get a tan. We don’t need to do that anymore. All we need to do is throw on a fake tan and we are good to go.
It is no secret that when you are tan, you look a lot better without a shirt. As a pale person myself, I know this all too well. That is of course until my wife introduced me to fake tanning.
Do not be turned off by the idea of a fake tan. I am not talking about the fake tans of the 1990’s when everyone looked completely orange. I am talking about the latest and greatest formulas that make you look naturally tan.
Even something as affordable as Bondi Sands Self Tanning Foam can be purchased on Amazon for an affordable price.
When I was in high school and college, I used to spend hours in the sun, hoping that I would end up getting the perfect tan. It never happened. My skin just wouldn’t allow it. Fake tans now allow you to look like you have been kissed by the sun without the harmful side effects.
If you are looking to get tan, I definitely recommend going with a fake tan foam or lotion.

Working out is a necessary step in looking good without a shirt. Be sure not to skip this one. I did mention that you can still lose weight in a caloric deficit and gain weight in a caloric surplus.. But, your body will not look as good if you aren’t working out through the process.
